Power Star's upcoming film is remake of Akshay Kumar's OMG:Oh My God!
Protesting against films and calling for ban on films seems to be in fashion these days. Only few days back, Aamir Khan's blockbuster entertainer PK faced strong protest from various Hindu religious groups, who cried blasphemy on the part of the filmmaker for showing their religion in poor light. The latest film under the scanner of these groups, is Power star Pawan Kalyan's Telugu flick Gopala Gopala.
The film slated for Makar Sankranti release, is a remake of Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal starrer OMG: Oh My God! After watching the trailer of Gopala Gopala, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) have urged the Censor Board to not to clear the film as it allegedly ridicules Hindu religion.
In a plea to CBFC, VHP stated that Pawan Kalyan's film shows Hindu gods and goddesses in inappropriate manner. BGUS secretary said,"It has become a habit of some filmmakers to hurt religious sentiments to get some publicity for their movies."
Will these protest affect film's release? We will have to wait and watch if Pawan Kalyan's Gopala Gopala gets strong support from progressive groups. Going by the huge fan following of Power Star, we believe it would.
