Guess the script demanded it...
Is the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) going liberal already? After ensuring there would be no rollback on the cuss words being banned by them, a film asked to clean up the expletives from their film or face cuts by the CBFC’s Examining Committee (EC), was allowed restoration of cuts ordered by the Censor Board’s Revising Committee (RC).
The film in question is Yaara Silli Silli directed by Gulzar’s associate Subhash Sehgal, featuring Bengali stars Parambrata Chatterjee and Paoli Dam.
Says a source from the CBFC, “The EC wanted several cuts in dialogues as many abusive terms were being used. But the RC argued that the language used by the characters was correct for the kind of cultural and economic background they represented. Every film can’t be judged by the same yardstick.”
