It has been a trend of sorts for film actors to make a foray into politics. It is perhaps their clean onscreen image that the party expects will extend itself to the person as a candidate and come in handy while garnering votes during the polls. While many of these actors couldn’t make it big, some actors went on to become renowned politicians. And continuing the trend are top Tamil superstars, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. The two stars have already announced their entry into politics and floated their own parties. Although it’s not clear yet as to if they would contest in the 2019 elections, the probability is quite high. And the latest we hear is that Malayalam superstar, Mohanlal, may jump on the bandwagon.

According to latest reports, Mohanlal may contest in the upcoming elections for BJP and may get a seat from the ruling party. According to a report in Deccan Herald, the ruling parties have been toying with the idea of having the Malayalam superstar contest in the 2019 elections from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram.
And recently, Mohanlal met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi which has added fuel to the fire. It is being reported that Mohanlal met the Prime Minister to discuss about the situation in Kerala. However, speculations are rife that this could result in the superstar contesting elections.
Mohanlal is quite caught up with his film projects till the end of 2019 and it is highly probable that he may not give his nod to it. However, buzz in the high-level circuits of the ruling party is that the party members want to get a foothold in Kerala too and want to use the popularity of the superstar, according to reports.
