The unseasonal heavy rains in Chennai have created a lot of havoc and devastation in the capital of Tamil Nadu already. Clean drinking water and food has also been an issue and there is no sign of improvement. A lot of celebrities have come forward and started helping out in the relief process.
Recently, Dilwale actor Shah Rukh Khan and his upcoming film's team donated Rs 1 crore for the victims of the Chennai floods. Many other cine stars from the Tamil and Telugu film industries like actors Suriya and Allu Arjun also donated Rs 25 lakh each to help the flood victims, while Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR promised Rs 10 lakh each. Actor Siddharth, along with popular Tamil RJ Balaji has also been coordinating rescue operations on the ground with the help of the social media and volunteers.
Now we hear that superstar Rajinikanth has also donated Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund yesterday, after being severely criticised by his fans for contributing a meagre Rs 10 lakh to help the flood victims. The star feels for the people too and hence he made it clear with a mammoth donation for the relief efforts.
Baahubali actor Rana Daggubati, along with a few actors from the Telugu industry, have also launched an initiative called ‘Mana Madras Kosam’. Rana’s family-owned Ramanaidu Studios has been turned into a make-shift drop point for all the relief material, so that they can be packed and trucked to the city. The initiative is being supported by a number of Bollywood actors too, including Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kalki Koechlin, Boman Irani and Abhishek Bachchan.
