Biopics are doing exceedingly well at the box office and we're seeing makers across film fraternities producing movies based on famous personalities. After the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, quite a few makers expressed their desire to make a film on the actress turned politician. Vijay and Priyadarshini, an assistant of Mysskin announced film. Now, news has come that producer Adithya Bharadwaj has roped in veteran National Award-winning filmmaker P Bharathiraja to direct the biopic on the life of Jayalalithaa. The film is titled AMMA: Puratchi Thalaivi. It seems veteran music composer Illaiyarajaa will give the musical score for the movie. It seems the producer met Bharathiraja a couple of days back. He told The Times of India that the maker got very emotional about the project and suggested that AMMA be used as a prefix. It seems the team has finished the research about the Iron Lady's life and the pre-production work is also done. The shoot might start in December.
Now, comes the interesting piece of news. Adithya told the publication that the makers have approached both Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Shetty for the role. These two ladies are front-runners. Actors Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal are being considered to play MGR. On the other hand, filmmaker Vijay is directing her biopic to be made by Vibri Media. He told a paper in August, "The film is entirely producer Vishnu's vision. When they approached me, I took it up because she was an inspirational figure. Currently, we are speaking to people who were close to her for research." He has made the film Madarasapattinam, which got a lot of critical acclaim. Priyadarshini, who is making another film said she would highlight the loneliness and struggle that she faced in her personal life. Stay tuned to BL for more scoop and updates!
