Ajay Devgn fans assemble! The actor is reportedly coming back to surprise you with the sequel of his 2018 film and it is none other than Raid, in which he featured opposite Ileana D'Cruz. The mystery thriller was a hit at the box office and it raked in about Rs 101.54 crore at the ticket windows. Raid revolved around the story of a senior income tax officer, Amay Patnaik, and his investigation on an influential man in Lucknow for money laundering. The first part was helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta. And while we aren't sure about the filmmaker who is going to direct the second part, one thing is for sure that the sequel of Raid is in works.
If a Deccan Chronicle report is to be believed, Ajay Devgn is looking out for another income tax raid, which has enough drama to be converted into a film. According to a source close to the development, "Raid was loosely based on the income tax raid on the then Congress MLA Sardar Inder Singh in 1981, undertaken by the IT commissioner Sharda Prasad Pandey. While the makers had changed the names to avoid any legalities, they are now looking at another such exciting raid to be put on film." The film is tentatively titled Raid 2 and it will be bankrolled by Kumar Mangat Pathak, who produced the first part as well.

Revealing how he did the research for Raid, Raj Kumar Gupta had earlier told Firstpost, "I have been part of films that have been inspired by real-life events and all were heavily researched. I have lots of friends who are part of the Indian Revenue Services apart from IAS officers. The idea was to go and meet them and have a first-hand look at the processes they go through. We looked for people who were involved in the raid and this also included wives of the officers."
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is currently gearing up for the release of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which releases on January 10, 2020.
