Ajay Devgn reacts to Alok Nath's casting in De De Pyaar De and #MeToo supporters are UPSET – watch video

Alok Nath is starring in De De Pyaar De and Twitter is upset with Ajay Devgn for defending his casting.

De De Pyaar De’s trailer released today. The film sees Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet come together for what seems like a mad ride. While fans are loving the trailer, one cannot help but notice Alok Nath in it. The actor’s role brings back memories of his role from Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. This is his first movie since he was accused during the #MeToo movement. Alok was called out by Vinta Nanda accusing him of sexual harassment. Following which, many chose to distance themselves from him. But why didn’t the makers of De De Pyaar De join the brigade and show Alok Nath the exit door? Devgn reveals the reason behind it. The actor told the press at the trailer launch that the movie was shot long before the accusations surfaced. “This is not the right place to talk about it. And jinki aap baat kar rahe hai woh film uske pehle complete hui (the film was completed before the allegations surfaced against the concerned person)," he said. It is only with time that we’ll understand what factors influenced the decision to retain Alok despite the accusations. IANS asked Alok Nath about the upcoming movie, however the actor wasn’t interested in talking about it, he said, "I don't want to talk anything about De De Pyaar De."

While Ajay tried to dodge the question, Twitter is upset with the star for his reaction. The official #MeToo movement handle called out the actor and tweeted, “While women continue to be disbelieved, ridiculed and shoved back into silence, men accused of sexual violence continue to find work. @ajaydevgn @itsBhushanKumar I hope you know Alok Nath has been accused of rape and an FIR filed. Disgusting that he’s part of De De Pyar De.”

“When it came to casting someone for that role, what made it absolutely necessary to pick a man accused of violence and harassment by multiple women? Is it a message that says you don’t care? What will it take for artists to stand up in support of women who call out predators?” the representatives further tweeted.

They were not the only ones who raised their voice against Alok’s inclusion in De De Pyaar De. Here are a few more reactions:
