Director Vetrimaaran clears the air on the rumours
The latest news about this critically acclaimed movie is that it is going to be remade in Hindi by director Priyadarshan. There were also rumours flying that Akshay Kumar will be a part of this movie. But director Vetrimaaran cleared this by giving a quote to an entertainment website that," The Hindi remake rights for Visaaranai have been bought by director Priyadarshan. As of now, that's the confirmed news. Akshay Kumar is not in the Hindi remake. That is not true." Apparently the only confirmed news about the remake is that Priyadarshan has bagged the remake rights for it. The casting and other details have not been decided.
National award wining director dished out this gem of a movie last week. The movie starred Dinesh Ravi of Atta Kaththi fame along with Aadukalam Murugadoss. Visaaranai is based on a Tamil novel called Lock Up written by M. Chandrakumar, who is an auto driver. This hard hitting and realistic film deals with police brutality and is a hard, truthful reflection of today's society.
Visaaranai premiered in the Orrizonti section of the 72nd Venice film festival. It managed to bag a Amnesty International Italia Award. Other than receives great critical acclaim and huge praise from the audience, veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth praised the film immensely on Twitter. The Superstar even went on to say that he has never seen a film like Visaarani and that it is an innovative movie not just for Indian cinema but for world cinema as a whole.
Lets hope that the Priyadarshan version does justice to the actual movie.
