If everything goes as per schedule, the much awaited sequel will release this year.
Akshay Kumar did the unexpected when he agreed to be a part of Rajinikanth's Enthiran 2. The popular superstar will be playing the main antagonist in the film, that will have Thalaiva in double role with Amy Jackson as the heroine. The film is directed by Shankar, who directed the original.
Ever since the news broke out, everyone had this question - why Akshay Kumar, one of the most popular actors in Bollywood with immense fan following, would do the villain's role in a South film. During a recent media interaction when he was asked why he took so much time to sign a South film, he asked the reporter back that which Bollywood male superstar has signed a South film before, apart from him (there is a correction, Akshayji - Amitabh Bachchan played a supporting role in Mohanlal's Kandahar, while also doing cameo appearances in a couple of other South films). He insisted that it's only the heroines who migrate to the South, and not the men.
He further gave the reason as to why he signed the film, as he feels it's a very special film and it also has a social message at its core.
Amitabh Bachchan was earlier approached for the same role, but he declined as he feared his fans wouldn't like it if the icon gets beaten by the hero. When Akshay Kumar was asked about this, he said that his fans are more intelligent and will accept his role.
