The week in Bollywood was a bit controversial, thanks to 64th National Film Awards announcement. Apart from that there was Kareena Kapoor Khan's candid statement that also acted as a sly dig at Mira Rajput, Kajol's jibe at Karan Johar. The sad news of veteran actor Vinod Khanna being hospitalised and filmmaker Vikas Bahl was accused of molestation.
Let's meet the top five newsmakers of the week:
Kareena Kapoor Khan takes a dig at Mira Rajput
Mira’s statements on an event on International Women’s Day recently received a lot of criticism. The statement where she said “I wouldn’t want to spend one hour with Misha and then rush off to work. Why did I have her? Misha is not a puppy. I want to be there for her” didn’t go down well with people cross the country and she got slammed for her views.
In an interview with Bombay Times, Kareena Kapoor Khan said, “What kind of a mother I am is something that will unfold with time. I will not scream from rooftops about experiencing motherhood or how much I love Taimur. There’s always the pressure of being judged, no matter what you do. It’s about how you deal with it.” She further stated, “Every pregnancy and every mother’s journey with her child during those nine months and afterwards is different. You can’t draw parallels. No one out there really knows me or what I am feeling at a given time. How can anyone decide on my behalf whether I am supposed to feel depressed or if I can step out before 45 days? If I’m spoken about like that, what would it be like for other women?”
Akshay Kumar, Neerja, Pink win big at 64th National Film Awards
The winners of 64th National Film Awards were announced. With Akshay Kumar winning for Rustom (Best Actor), Surabhi CM bagging the award for Minnaminungu-The Firefly (Best Actress), Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay fetching an award in the Best VFX category, Priyanka Chopra’s Marathi film Ventilator winning it for Best Editing and Sound Mixing, Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja fetching an award in the Best Hindi film category, Amitabh Bachchan’s PINK being the Best film on social issue etc., Bollywood has had quite a presence in the National Awards this year. Kajol takes a dig at Karan Johar
While Karan spoke about the issues that drove their dosti apart, in his autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy, Kajol kept mum. She continues to stand her ground. When asked for her side of the story, she takes a five-second pause (that seems like forever) and replies, “I think that the best thing for me to do right now, as far as this entire topic (the fallout with Karan Johar) is concerned, is to stay silent. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. When and if I choose to give my opinion on this particular topic, I will make sure the world hears of it.”
And later she took a sly dig at Karan Johar, when she said, "Well, I think there’s a lot of fake honesty going around as well. I really do. There are a lot of people going around and saying, ‘You know I’m being honest’ and actually, it’s just for selling books, or movies and ratings. I don’t know, there are a lot of reasons for faking in front of the camera. Or in front of the public, for that matter. I think honesty has been abused over time and space.” Also read: Kajol on her fallout with Karan Johar: When I choose to give my opinion, I will make sure the world hears of it
Vinod Khanna hospitalised
Legendary actor Vinod Khanna was admitted to the hospital due to severe dehydration. There were several reports doing the round about his condition. Few suggested he is suffering from cancer and that is the reason for his admission and not dehydration. Later, an image of a frail looking Vinod Khanna was leaked and fans lost their mind. However, after refusing to comment earlier, finally the hospital, where he is admitted has released an official statement. Read it out below:
“Mr. Vinod Khanna was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation hospital on Friday with severe dehydration. He is under the care of our doctors and has responded positively to the treatment and is now stable. His family thanks his well wishers for the good wishes and requests to respect their privacy.

Vikas Bahl accused of molestation
The Queen director was accused of molesting a co-worker at an office trip that took place a few months ago. Although he flatly denied all the charges put against him, his production company, Phantom Films still ousted him. But the matter doesn’t end there. It is believed that he may never return to the production house, whether the case is solved or not. A close friend while in talks with Mid-Day stated, “He just woke up one morning to the news and it (charges levelled against him) came as a shock to him too. He and the woman are friends, and they’ve always had their share of banter. Whether the charges against him are proven or not, this is definitely the end of the road for him in this company. His partners have turned against him and the reasons are not restricted to moral grounds alone, as it is being made out to be. There is a deep-rooted feeling that Vikas has become redundant. He hasn’t submitted a script post Shaandaar (2015).” Read out the details here and here.
