Akshay Kumar's Gold becomes the first ever Bollywood film to release in Saudi Arabia

The film marks the Bollywood debut of television actress Mouni Roy

The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar continues his successful run at the box office as his latest outing Gold crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market. And now the film has added one more feather of achievement to its hat by becoming the first ever Bollywood film to release in Saudi Arabia. The actor shared the news on his Twitter account and captioned it, "The story of India’s first Gold medal victory for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Happy to share, #Gold is the first ever Bollywood movie to release in the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, in cinemas from today!".

Gold is Akshay Kumar’s ninth Rs 100 crore film after Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Airlift, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2, Holiday, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rowdy Rathore. Talking about the film, it showcases the journey of India’s first Olympic gold win as a free nation.

Gold is directed by Talaash helmer Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment. It also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal in key roles. On the professional front, Akshay Kumar will be next seen in Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, which is set to hit the screens on November 29. Made on the budget of Rs 400 crore it is one of the most Indian expensive films.
