Akshay Kumar is obsessed with Republic Day and Independence Day releases. In fact, he has started to do so many such films that it won't be wrong to call him the new age Bharat Kumar. In fact, the fascination for these dates have reached to such epic proportions that now Akshay Kumar is left with no other option to rival himself at the box office. Yes, Rajinikanth's 2.0 where he plays the antagonist will release along with Padman. Both the films are scheduled to release on Republic Day 2018.
Now for his fans it may be a double treat but it may not be a great business prospect for both the films. 2.0 has a deafening buzz around it which is almost similar to Baahubali 2. It not only is a sequel to the hit 2010 flick Robot, it has also gone bigger by employing Akshay's villainy skills which is very popular and credible. Plus, it is made at a humongous budget and is expected to repeat the success of S S Rajamouli's war epic. The film is releasing on January 25, 2018 and many are hopeful that it will become the first biggest blockbuster of Indian Cinema next year.

And then it gets pitted against a film like Padman which has a message. It is a story of a man who pained by the condition of his wife during periods, decides to make cheaper sanitary pads available for women. It is a thought-provoking film which is inspired from a man's real fight. Akshay will obviously bring in a lot of people to the theatres on January 26 but it would have been better if the film had managed to get a solo release. 2.0 might just crush its chances to make a lot of money at the box office.
We wonder what Akshay Kumar is thinking!
