Now, this is a huge disappointment for Salman Khan. Bhai's films whether they are Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010) or even Bajrangi Bhaijaan have a repeat viewing value on TV. Films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan's world TV premiere have shattered TRP records. However, this year has turned out to be a disappointment as even the world TRP premiere of Tubelight did not shine brightly. It was Akshay Kumar's Toilet - Ek Prem Katha that fared better. As per statistics released by BARC, TEPK got 10,925 (000s) impressions while Salman Khan's Tubelight only managed 10,261 impressions. It is not at all surprising as even the film was an average grosser at the box-office unlike TEPK, which was a superhit.
Akshay Kumar's films did not create records in the past couple of years in terms of TRPs, but this year has been damn good for the hunk. His film Jolly LLB 2 also got great TRPs in 2017, second only to Dangal. This year, the world premiere of Dangal beat all other films like Raees and Kaabil. It got a TVR of 4.3, which was double of that of daily soaps. Zee TV acquired the telecast rights of the film at a whopping 75 crores. In fact, Zee Cinema also telecast TEPK first in satellite channels but it was DD National that showed viewers the film first to audiences on September 17 at 10.30am.
We are hoping that Tiger Zinda Hai reclaims Salman Khan's mojo at the box office and TV sets as well. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates...
