Even before the book was released, Ekta Kapoor roped in Mohit Suri to direct the film
Not a long time ago, Chetan Bhagat announced his sixth book, Half Girlfriend which has hit the stands yesterday. The story revolves around Madhav, a rugged Bihari boy with poor English speaking skills who falls in love with Riya, a sophisticated young girl. Madhav pursues a romantic relationship with her, but she instead prefers friendship. As a compromise, Madhav suggests that she be his half-girlfriend, and she accepts.
Later it was announced that the novel will be adapted into a film, which will be directed by Mohit Suri and jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Chetan. While rumours suggest that Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon have been approached to play the role of Riya, we at BollywoodLife have come up with a list of fresh jodis we want to see in the filmi adaptation of Half Girlfriend.
Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur - Yes, Alia would definitely be able to pull off the role of Riya. But as far as Madhav is concerned, we would love to see Aditya opposite Alia. Something new and fresh onscreen, hai na?
Sushant Singh Rajput and Sonam Kapoor - Again we can totally imagine Sonam as Riya considering she has played such roles in I Hate Luv Storys and Aisha. Sushant, who played the role of a Marathi boy in Pavitra Rishta might be able to do justice to the role of Madhav. Plus the chemistry between Sonam and Sushant would be something to watch out for.
Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor - Since Arjun has done 2 States and is said to be a part of Revolution 2020, he is certainly that Chetan Bhagat hero. Shraddha comes across as this petite and townie gal, who will fit as Riya.
Sidharth Malhotra and Kriti Sanon - Sid can carry off that rugged look well, which was quite evident in Ek Villain. On the other hand, Kriti has young and fresh face. It would be interesting to watch Sid and Kriti together, no?
So BollywoodLifers, vote, and let us know who you think can do justice to the filmi adaption of Bhagat's latest book.
