Abhishek Varman's Kalank featuring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt opened to mixed reviews from both critics and audience. People adored the grandeur and beauty of the film but it wasn't received well at the box office. While the first-day collection of Kalank was Rs 21.60 crore, it eventually saw a dip. At the recently held event, when Alia Bhatt was asked about Kalank's box office failure, the actress didn't shy away from speaking about the same.
She said, "Analyse toh mai nahi karugi because that's something that is not required. Janta ki adaalat sabse badi adaalat hoti hai and when the audience does not accept the film, then the film should not do well, that's just the way it is. Aur hume bas accept karke aage try karna hai to come back and make sure to not disappoint this time."
Alia always addresses questions asked by the media and she once again did it, quite patiently. Talking about Kalank, the movie failed to engage the audience as it was slow paced and the length was far fetched. Although this period drama didn't work out well, Alia has an interesting line up of movies ahead, which may turn out to be box office blockbusters.
The 26-year-old essays a lead role in Ayan Mukerji's super-hero fantasy, Brahmastra. The movie, which is said to be a trilogy, also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy. The first part of Brahmastra series will hit the screens during Christmas this year.
Besides that, Alia makes her debut down south with SS Rajamouli's RRR. She will share the frame with JR Ntr, Ram Charan and Ajay Devgn. In Bollywood, Alia will team up once again with her mentor Karan Johar for his magnum opus film, Takht. It features an ensemble star cast of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar.
Miss Bhatt is also working with Salman Khan for the first time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial, Inshallah. Long story short, the actress has a lot to offer to the audience in the coming months.
