India will be celebrating 72 years of independence today. We are grateful to the freedom fighters for giving us everything we have today. And that includes the freedom of watching whichever movie we want to watch. All the TV shows are airing special movies today. But seriously, there is a limit to as many times we can watch Kranti or Border. No offence to anybody who can watch these movies infinite times. But, thankfully, we have quite a fresh batch of movies that all resonate with us today as we feel our patriotic most.
First of all two very cool movies Akshay Kumar's
Mission Mangal and John Abraham's Batla House have released today, so they can be the very obvious choices. But other than these two, we are going to list down 7 movies that you should be watching today! Entertainment has never been more wholesome before! Uri: the Surgical Strike
Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike went on to make and break records worldwide. The revenge war drama based on the Indian Army's surgical strike against Pakistan was lauded for its performance and technical excellence. It also turned out to be a game-changer for its lead actor Vicky Kaushal. How's the josh? HIGH SIR! This is exactly what people kept chanting after the film hit the screens.
It's all about the love for the motherland. This is what the 21 soldiers had in their mind while they fought against the Pashtun tribesmen. These brave-hearts didn't think a bit before sacrificing their lives while protecting their motherland. This battle of Saragarhi depicted by Anurag Singh on the silver screen with Akshay Kumar aboard got a standing ovation from the audience and critics.
Alia Bhatt's drama based on the novel Calling Sehmat, in turn, based on the life of Indian spy Sehmat, is one of the best movies that released this year. The movie features the actress playing the role of Sehmat, who is married into a Pakistani family to spy on them and avert any danger to India. Meghna Gulzar's direction has made this movie into something that will never age.
The story of the hockey player Sandeep Singh is the sports high you need for today. The movie features Diljit Dosanjh essaying the role of the hockey player, endearingly called Flicker Singh, the best goal scorer in the qualifying tournament for the 2012 London Olympics.
This John Abraham starrer tells a story that many of us do not know. You know why APJ Abdul Kalam is so popular? Other than the fact that he was India's most beloved president. Well, watch this movie and you will learn of the super secret mission that was carried out to make India the nuclear-equipped country it is today. Watch the World Television Premiere of Parmanu - The Story of Pokhran, on 15th August at 12 noon only on Zee cinema.
Tapsee Pannu starrer courtroom drama is the need of the hour. The movie features her as the Hindu daughter-in-law of a Muslim man, played by Rishi Kapoor. She has to double up as his defence lawyer when he is wrongly accused in the court. The accusations are based only on prejudice.
The movie features Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee. At the surface, this movie is an espionage thriller, but at the core, it also teaches a very important lesson about patriotism. And that too, very subtly, as is the case with every Neeraj Panday directorial.
Honourable Mentions: You can also pick between Akshay Kumar's PadMan. We know it is not a patriotic movie, per se, but it will help your brain get freedom from one very unnecessary taboo. If not that, Ajay Devgn's Raid could also be your choice, as it is the fictional retelling of the biggest income tax raid in India and inspires you to pay your taxes.
