Umesh Shukla's crazy comedy is not crazy enough to excite us
Dysfunctional families seem to be the flavour of the season in B-town. After films like Piku and Dil Dhadakne Do, Umesh Shukla's All Is Well starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Asin and Supriya Pathak deals with the troubles of a dysfunctional family. But in this film, the director has decided to see the funny side of a family in crisis.
Umesh Shukla's last film Oh My God! was declared hit at box office, so the expectations from the film is also huge. With the movie All Is Well set to hit the screens on August 21, the makers have unveiled the trailer of the film. I took a quick sneak peek of the promo and this is what I thought of it:
The trailer takes us on a wild goose chase of jewellery along with the eccentric family of four - Abhishek, his grumpy dad Rishi Kapoor, his forgetful mom Supriya Pathak and his lady love Asin. The promo starts of well as Abhishek the narrator introduces to his dad Rishi Kapoor. But as soon as the problems start to emerge in the characters life, the trailer looks like yet another run-of-the mill comedy. Rishi Kapoor has done a fantastic job playing a moody father, as he overshadows Abhishek Bachchan who fails to impress with his wooden expressions. I don't even get why Asin is in the trailer as she has absolutely nothing to do with the story and doesn't even lend to the glam factor. Superb actress like Supriya Pathak has been under utilised as she doesn't even have a single dialogue to say. Sonakshi Sinha does a surprise item number in the film, which is one of the very few high points in the trailer. Overall, the All Is Well promo is disappointing.
