The film is directed by former mimicry star, Nadirshah!
Once upon a time, Nadirshah was one of the most sought after mimicry artistes and a close collaborator with Malayalam superstar Dileep. He was known for his fantastic parody songs and skits. Unlike Dileep, he couldn't make much breakthrough into an acting career, though he has appeared in several films even as a leading hero. Now he is all set to become the director with Amar Akbar Anthony, a comic caper, which stars Prithviraj, Indrajith and Jayasurya. Prithviraj plays Amar, Jayasurya plays Akbar and Indrajith is Anthony, who are the thickest of friends, while not so thick on brains. The trailer of the film is out, and here's what we thought about it! What's hot
For a comedy film, the trailer had some gags that elicited a chuckle or two. I liked the Whatsapp and the President of India gag! Also the film boasts of some of the best comic artistes in the industry, like KPAC Lalitha, Bindu Panicker, Kalabhavan Shajon, Noby, Ramesh Pisharody. Among the three heroes, it's Jayasurya, followed by Indrajith who looks the funnier of the trio, while Prithviraj gets the Kochi slang right! The trailer ends in a suspenseful note, where the film's main baddie is about to get revealed, but the scene ends before that! What's not
Seriously, what's wrong with the people who edit Malayalam film trailers these days? Why do they edit these trailers is such slap-shod manner, that we can't make head or tail of the plot? Drishyam did it right with its trailer without revealing its plot, but others are just following its cue without a sense of direction. The finest trailer I had seen this year was of Prithviraj's own Ennu Ninte Moideen! The heroines, Namitha Pramod and Srindha Ashab, get a raw deal in the trailer itself.
Our verdict
Though the cast in itself is interesting, after all Indrajith, Prithviraj and Jayasurya are reuniting after the superhit Classmates, the trailer doesn't invoke much interest or confidence. Hopefully, the film should turn out to be much better than this!
