Imran Khan and Avantika Malik made headlines yesterday, with reports suggesting that the couple will soon end their eight years long marriage. A report in DNA stated that the couple is heading for divorce, reportedly due to irreconcilable differences. The report quoted an insider as saying, “Avantika allegedly left 24, Pali Hill, Imran’s residence, a while ago with Imara. It is being said that she is currently staying with her family.”
And while the couple is yet to react to the rumours, Avantika Malik, has apparently dropped Imran Khan’s surname from her Instagram account. Reportedly, Avantika’s handle name was initially Avantika Malik Khan and now reads only Avantika Malik. However her social media bio still bears the link of Imran Khan directed short film Mission Mars: Keep Walking India.
Avantika’s mother Vanadana had reacted to the reports and told In.com, “We all (Vandana, Avantika and Imran) read the news and let me tell you that there’s no such thing. There are some differences (between the husband and wife), which will be sorted anyway.” When she was asked if a legal procedure of divorce is being initiated, she was quick to refute and added, “Absolutely not.” Avantika and Imran were teenage sweethearts and dated for almost eight years before tying the knot in 2011. The couple turned parents in 2014, with the birth of their daughter Imara.
On the work front, Imran Khan was last seen in 2015 release Katti Batti, opposite Kangana Ranaut. Post that, he took a sabbatical from acting and directed a short film titled Mission Mars: Keep Walking India, which was backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma 2.0.
