Its been two decades since Big B's name has been cleared from the Bofors scam, however it seems like the actor is still living in the shadows of failed political career
Amitabh Bachchan was elated when he got a clean chit in the 1986 Bofors scandal. The Shamitabh actor however prefers to stay mum on this issue and especially the Gandhi family. In an interview to a news channel when the actor was quizzed about his fall out with Gandhis he said, "This is something I need to contain with me and not make it public."
The megastar of Bollywood also added, "Giving a clarification sounds very defensive. I'd rather wait for the truth to come out. Yes that's painful to wait because it takes a lot out of you but when it will, it will nullify everything that happened before. And that's what happened with Bofors. 25 years later, the Chief Prosecutor said my name was just planted in there. I don't think we were equipped to handle that (telling our side of the story) and we still aren't...at least, I'm not."
Also it looks like it's highly unlikely that Sr Bachchan will ever venture into politics like his contemporaries Shatrugan Sinha, Vinod Khanna and Hema Malini. Coz he also added, "I don't know politics, I am not qualified at it...I failed at it. I don't know how to deal with people, I don't know what it required of me."
All we can say is we're happy to have him entertain us on 70mm, aren't we BollywoodLifers?
