The Mozart of Madras AR Rahman has impressed billions worldwide with his musical genius. Even musicians from the West are in awe of his talent, and wish to collaborate with him. The Oscar winner recently reacted to Selena Gomez's interest in working with him. He said that he has heard/read about many top artistes wanting to work or collaborate with him but has not been able to meet them in person. He had come on the show, A Little Late With Lilly Singh. When she asked, "In 2020, Selena Gomez said in an interview that she wants to work with you, did you know that?", he had this answer.

AR Rahman said that he never gets to meet these singers as he is based in India. Jokingly, he asked if his management was seeing the interviews. He was quoted as telling Lilly Singh, "I keep seeing all this stuff, but I think people are just confused, ‘where is my management? Did Selena Gomez call you?’ Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez and Madonna, all these people talking about me, but then I never get to meet them because I am on the other side of the world."
He says love of music is one thing that is universal in a highly divisive world. AR Rahman said that it felt good to know this. He said, "So it feels good and in this whole divided world today, I feel like music is the one thing which is the magic left." In 2020, Selena Gomez told Luxebook that she likes AR Rahman's work and would like to sing for a Bollywood movie. She said, "He is a global figure today and I would love to sing or be a part of his compositions. I think it would be beautiful to sing for a Bollywood movie."
Taylor Swift is also gaga on AR Rahman's music. She has said that his works touch the soul, and she would like to hear him live once.
