Avengers: Endgame will make a grand entry in theatres this Friday and even before we witness its glory on the silver screen, the film is already setting massive records. Our excitement for the film amplified with pictures from the glamorous premiere and the audience lauding the majestic Marvel outing as ‘a masterful epic’, ‘astonishing’ and ‘amazing’.
Avengers: Endgame has also secured the permission to showcase the film 24x7 in theatres in India, which will effectively fetch some record-breaking figures at the box office. BL predicts that Avengers: Endgame will earn a whopping Rs 45-50 crore on its opening day, eyeing to shatter the opening day feat of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which minted Rs 41 (Hindi) and was another non-holiday opener. Here’s how the superhero squad will take over Mahendra Baahubali's performance at the Indian box office:
Biggest non-holiday opener:
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion released on April 28, 2017 and emerged as the biggest non-holiday opener in India. The epic saga went on to mint a lifetime collection of Rs 510.99 crore. Giving it tough competition will be Hollywood’s most anticipated release of 2019, Avengers: Endgame. We have witnessed epic euphoria for the MCU film as online ticket booking platforms literally crashed with fans vying to book the tickets. Avengers: Endgame has no holiday or a festival to bank on and going by the housefull bookings we expecting the squad to conquer big numbers at the Indian box office.
SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus released in approximately 6,500 screens in all languages. And Avengers: Endgame is looking at a similar figure with 2700 screens already booked, with an unprecedented number of shows, thanks to the permission to screen Avengers: Endgame 24x7 in theatres. India is indeed Marvel crazy and fans shelling out Rs 2400 for the film’s premium ticket speaks volumes about their devotion for the superhero franchise. Most first day shows for Avengers: Endgame have sold out in metro cities, with tickets costing ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 2400. This pricey tag will add considerably to the opening day figure of Avengers: Endgame. Interestingly, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Jab Harry Met Sejal own the record for the most expensive ticket in India, with a price tag of Rs 2400.
Booking a ticket for Avengers: Endgame in India for the opening day was a tough task. Online booking sites crashed as a mammoth one million tickets were booked in India in just 24 hours! Down South too, several shows of Avengers: Endgame, in the opening weekend are sold out. The Avengers saga is recreating the craze we witnessed for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion; but will win the box office game.
Directed by Russo Brothers, the film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin in key roles. We are eagerly awaiting the Endgame mania to triumph at the box office, as it arrives in theatres on April 26.
