The sequel is all set to get bigger and grander than Baahubali.
Baahubali was undoubtedly one of the biggest releases the South industry ever witnessed. Apart form being applauded for its storyline, performances, direction, the movie went on to collect Rs 600 crore at the box office. Also, according to reports, the film went on to collect Rs 100 crore in the dubbed category( Hindi). No film in the dubbed category has amassed such a fortune. But if you thought Bahaubali grand, wait till Baahubali 2 hits theatres. According to reports, the movie is already planning to break Kabali's records much ahead of its release.
On Friday, when the news of Baahubali 2's confirmed release set social media buzzing. 28th April 2017 is the much awaited day when the most anticipated sequel will hit screens worldwide. The countdown has already begun.
As per reports in a leading portal, here's what producer Shobu Yarlagadda has to say about Baahubali 2, "Director SS Rajamouli is now shooting the climax of the film, which should be wrapped up by 31 August. In October, he will complete some crucial linking scenes and then do two songs and by November-end, the entire shoot will be over. The VFX and editing work is going on simultaneously. The first look posters will come out by November. We are gearing up for a release in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi on 28 April 2017, in time for the long May Day weekend.”
But apart from wrapping up the shoot and gearing up for the release, the Bahaubali team is reportedly set to ape Kabali's promotional strategies in order encash on the pre-release buzz. In fact, the sale of the movie's theatrical rights have already begun in full swing. As we told you, the Kerala rights were brought at about 10.50 crore approx, beating Kabali records at Rs 7.50 crore. Then the news of its TN theatrical rights being sold was out. Reportedly, it was sold for Rs 45 crore. The Andhra and Telangana rights are yet to be sold, but reports are stating that it might collect around a Rs 100 crore collectively. And the Hindi theatrical rights will probably be sold at about Rs 120 crore. Also, Karnataka rights are yet to be sold. So, will this movie collect around Rs 300 crore in its domestic pre-release deals? Also, this is not even including the sale of merchandise and brand associations deals.
Now, according to the same portal, the other talk around Baahubali 2 is - the overseas rights for all three languages has been sold for a whopping Rs 52 crore. So does it this mean Baahubali 2 will break Kabali's pre-release deal records at Rs 350 crore? Reports also state, that if the pre-release deals stand at Rs 350 crore, the movie will have collect about Rs 550 crore at the box office.
As of now, Baahubali 2 is easily one of the most anticipated sequels and releases of 2017. The fact that the movie is kept under wraps is also adding to the curiosity and intrigue around the movie.
