Check out what the first half of this film is all about in BollywoodLife’s quick movie review!
Bajirao Mastani is an epic period saga. A film that speaks about the eternal love between a Peshwa and Mastani who were inseparable. History hasn't done much justice to this love story as there are many who don't know about this romance. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's labour for love kept him waiting for 12 years before it became an on screen reality with Ranveer Singh as Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai. The trailer left us mesmerised and the songs that released after that made us impatient to watch this magnum opus. Finally the film will release tomorrow and our editor Tushar Joshi is watching the film right now. It seems the film has left him floored if we go by his review of the first half.
He writes, "Larger than life sets, dazzling costumes and some well written scenes make up for the first half of Bajirao Mastani. The film doesn't take time to soar. We are introduced to Peshwa Bajirao played majestically by Ranveer Singh. This is easily his career best performance. Deepika's introduction scene is a major highlight. This is a love story. Even though the battle scenes and history are an important part, it is the romance between Bajirao and Mastani that forms crux of the first half. The special effects are also class apart. Priyanka Chopra's Kashibai act is a big highlight. Even though she has less screen time compared to Deepika, she shines everytime we see her. The dialogues will give you goosebumps. Deepika and Ranveer are on their way of giving their career best performances with BM. Deepika is a perfect fit for Mastani while Ranveer's Marathi accent is fab! The interval comes at a crucial point."
Whao! Now that sounds promising. It seems we are on our way of getting one of the best romantic period dramas and we can't wait to know how it is in totality. So far so good. You stay tuned for the full review soon!
