Y-Films' latest venture Bank Chor stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles. Despite extensive promotions, mostly targeted at creating viral content, the movie is not doing well at the box office. On Sunday, the movie saw a huge dip in collections and was only able to rake in Rs 1.28 crore. There was a bleak hope that the movie's collections might pick up when Saturday collections (Rs 1.66 crore) were higher than the opening day collection (Rs 1.40 crore). Well the dip in collections could also be attributed to the fact that Sunday kept people busy with the India vs Pakistan match. Now, Bank Chor has to go through the Monday test. The only movie from recent times that Bank Chor was able to beat is Rajkummar Rao-starrer, Trapped, which had a low collection of Rs 1.44 crore on its opening weekend, despite garnering rave reviews.
Bank Chor was not a big release, and Y-Films only released it in 700 theaters domestically. The movie has received mixed to positive reviews from the critics. BollywoodLife, in a 3 star review wrote, "Writing is the hero of the film. Make no mistake, Bank Chor is a smart comic thriller in the garb of a mindless comedy as the trailer showcased. The film, especially in its second half, takes a drastic turn for good. The thrills in the second half make for an intriguing watch. Special credit should be given to the writers, Baljeet Singh Marwah and Bumpy, for that."
Bank Chor is about three men trying to rob a bank. The trio is frontlined by Champak (Riteish Deshmukh). Their heist fails miserably and CBI officer Amjad Khan (Vivek Oberoi) plays the biggest roadblock. Many revelations are made during the narrative!
Bank Chor has been directed by Bumpy and also stars Rhea Chakraborty, Sahil Vaid, Bhuvan Arora and Vikram Thapa in key roles.
