He gave a statement regarding the charges pressed against him and his fellow accused, composer Anirudh Ravichander and clarified his take on the whole beep song controversy. The Beep song controversy has been brewing for a long time and the Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada star has faced the brunt of the criticism and attacks. To those who didn't follow the whole case, back in December, a song was leaked on social media called the Beep song. It was allegedly sung by STR and music composer Anirudh Ravichander. The song had controversial lyrics that were considered very offensive to women, After facing a lot of flak for the moral misconduct, a female rights group pressed legal charges on the actor musician duo.
After this a series of incidents escalated the issue to dangerous heights. The police had issued a notice to airport authorities to stop the actor from travelling anywhere outside Chennai. STR had even received death threats on social media.
Both the celebrities had been asked to appear before the Coimbatore police to give official statements. Anirudh had already appeared before the police after he returned from his international tour. Simbu was also asked to appear a while back, but the Little Superstar had asked for more time to prepare his case.
