After receiving flak for supporting Abhijeet after his account was suspended for using filthy language against women, Sonu Nigam went on a 24-tweet rant before deleting his Twitter account. While Twitter is divided over his account deactivation, some are abusing Twitter India ceo and asking for a boycott of Twitter, many are urging Sonu Nigam to return to the Twitter world. He was of an opinion that “forced religiousness” should end in India. o have his sleep disturbed by the sound of morning Azaan on the loudspeaker. He was of an opinion that “forced religiousness” should end in India. He followed up the tweet with several other tweets and called it Gundagardi. No points in guessing he received a lot of flak from Twitteratis. In fact, many of his industry colleagues had a mixed reaction to his religious rant. While celebs like Anupam Kher and Mahesh Bhatt were surprised by Sonu’s rant, singers like Shaan and Kailash Kher sided with him on his stand.

His tussle with a music label
In late 2013, after a tussle with a well-known music label, he announced his retirement. The much public fallout was in news for a long time. He also tweeted about it and asked his followers to support his cause. It was a contractual issue that led to the fallout. However, later in 2015, the two made peace.
His opinion on Freedom of Speech or the lack of it
In late 2015, he voiced his opinion on freedom of speech in this country when he tweeted, “Everyone has the right to an opinion, except a celebrity. And that’s not my opinion by the way because I’m not supposed to have one. Paradox.” His comments came after Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were receiving flak for their opinion and were deemed as anti-national by certain political parties. When he decided to break into a gig mid-air
Last year a video had gone viral on social media where Sonu Nigam was seen singing in a flight using the flight announcement system, of course, after being allowed by the air hostesses. In ADHM there was a scene where Anushka Sharma’s character says “Mohammed Rafi gaate nahi, rote the (Mohammed Rafi used to cry, not sing).” While talking to an entertainment portal, when Sonu was asked about his take on the scene, he said. “If you can listen to the same joke about your parents then we are wrong. If your blood boils that how can someone say something like this about my parents, then hum sahi hain beta.” Later Karan Johar too retaliated tweeting, “Filmmakers making irresponsible remarks at events.. Singers reveling in self importance… Press releases sent to mask insecurities! Ufff…,”. Sonu too was quick to respond, “So it’s all about loving your family, and disrespecting others’!! And this is not reveling in Self Importance. UFFFFFFF…”
