Sunny Leone's latest outing is Beiimaan Love. In this Rajeev Chaudhary directed revenge saga she stars alongside Rajniesh Duggal. The movie's first half is misogynistic, racist, and homophobic. Before you read any further, all of this criticism is directed at bad film making and NOT Sunny Leone, as she has done her part well in Beiimaan Love. The film also marks the debut of Daniel Weber, who is just there in the film.
What is it about?
Sunny Leone plays Sunaina, an entrepreneur, a woman scorned in love, out for revenge on Raj, played badly by Rajniesh Duggal, the man behind wrecking her life. Yep, we see the done to death idea once again with absolutely nothing new to offer. As the movie progresses, Sunaina falls in love with Raj, who has molested her in a club once. She figures he is her boss, so well, all the women empowerment flags this movie was waving can go to hell. The two embark on a friendship, which later turns into a romance, all the while Raj is only pretending and trying to get close to Sunaina. He successfully does so, but while doing it he puts sindoor on Sunaina's forehead. Later in the night his family sees the sindoor and Raj-Sunaina have to lie that they got married. The family agrees to get them married 'again' for the society. So at the engagement party, after logic leaves the building, the family finds out about Sunaina' mother's past as a bar dancer. Hell breaks loose. And Raj gets a way to get out of the marriage he didn't even want in the first place, which he could have simply said on being caught with Sunaina. Sunaina and her mother are kicked out. Sunaina swears revenge. Just in this simple plot there exist so many loopholes that you can make a drinking game out of it. Drink every time, common sense goes for a long drive in Beiimaan Love. Also Read: Beiimaan Love quick movie review: Sunny Leone's film is misogynistic, homophobic and racist so far
Sunny Leone. She has come a far way as an actress and it is commendable. She puts her best foot forward for this film, and if only the execution of the script had been good, we might have had a decent piece of cinema. There is a scene at the end where she shifts between two polar opposite shades of personalities, and its brilliantly pulled off by the actress. Sunny has a special song in Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, and I am hopeful that it changes things for her in the industry. She is a decent actor. There are far worse actors in Bollywood with much more opportunities than her. In Beiimaan Love, she goes from chirpy and bubbly to revengeful convincingly. Her character is still somewhere in love with the man she wants to destroy, and Sunny pulls it off with ease. The songs are good, especially Rang Reza.
Where do I even begin? There is a scene where Rajniesh is in a club with his fiance. His fiance's friend-with-benefits approaches him and offers him cocaine. When Rajniesh declines the offer, the friend asks "Something harder?". Was he offering Rajniesh a harder drug than cocaine or trying to hit on him, only the dialogue writer will be able to tell. There is a dramatic scene where the camera zooms in on Sunny's face, and it is done so badly that I have seen Sunny post better videos on her Snapchat than this.
The script is as unimaginative and non creative as it gets. Sunny's character to extract revenge sleeps with Rajniesh's character again, which was ONLY required to make space for another love making song. Beiimaan Love is like, two erotic songs were shot in the beginning and then a story was weaved around those. The supporting cast is as bad as any B-Grade movie.
The climax is the shoddiest part of the film. Beiimaan Love ends so abruptly that you might take a minute to realise that it was indeed 'The End'.
What To Do
Skip it. Go watch anything else but Beiimaan Love over the weekend. I am giving one star solely for Sunny Leone and her improvement as an actress.
