It's one sneak peek that could divide the fans...
In a recent Dilwale media interaction, the host of the event said there are three categories of trailers, 1. which show nothing; 2. which show everything and 3. the Shah Rukh Khan method that show everything yet show nothing!
The first trailer for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was like the third category, the Shah Rukh Khan one. It showed a lot of brilliant, stylish scenes without letting out too much of the plot. It allowed the fans to do the guesswork of what's happening in it and what they have tried to hide. The second trailer that was released today on the Jimmy Kimmel show, unfortunately, falls in the second category - it lets out too much for us to savour!
While the first trailer was like a puzzle, the second trailer is like the set of answers to the puzzle! And the fanboys, like me, don't like answers shoved down our throats this easy! The new trailer continues to work on Batman's despicability towards Superman and vice-versa. The best scene in the trailer was the one where Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent discuss about the rights and wrongs of Batman's vigilant activities at Lex Luthor's ball. The rest of the scenes have a lot of style, too much light flares and lot of hamminess, courtesy Jesse Eisenberg, who plays a hyperventilating version of what he played in The Social Network!
But my grudge is not with Jesse, it's with how the trailer spoils a lot of surprises that had kept us fanboys guessing. Like Joker does play a significant role in Batman's arc (even if he is not present in the film). Like Lex Luthor is really making some monstrous being out of General Zod''s dead body (people say it is the iconic Superman villain, Doomsday, but looks more like a screwed up version of The Thing!). Like Wonder Woman is actually playing up both Batman and Superman, before she takes on Doomsday.
But above all, the last scene of the trailer ruins the 'vs' part of the title by showing Batman and Superman teaming up together to fight against the monster, with the help of Wonder Woman (BTW, Gal Gadot looks magnifique, but why does Amy Adams look like those black eyed kids from those creepy urban legends!). In short the new trailer is the biggest proof that BVS is a 2 hour trailer for their upcoming Justice League films.
