On the actresses’ birthday, I take a look at some of her most memorable roles. Read on to know more!
Bollywood is filled with leading actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma. But for me, Kalki Koechlin has stood out like no other. Be it her impeccable acting skills, her choice of films or the way she carries herself, Kalki has given all several reasons to sing praises for her. On her birthday, I list down five of her most memorable roles:Dev D- Chandramukhi
The beauty made her Bollywood debut with Anurag Kashyap’s film Dev D. Seen as Chandramukhi in the modern day take of Devdas, Kalki left a long lasting impression on the minds of many with her stellar performance. Considering that it was Kalki’s first film, I believe the actress performed as someone having years of experience.
Seen as Amrita Jaishankar aka Amy in Anurag Kashyap’s Shaitan, the actress played a troubled girl, dealing with the turmoil of her mom’s death. Vulnerable, delusional and offbeat, Kalki essayed the role perfectly and convinced all of her versatility!
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara- Natasha
I had always seen Kalki in artsy roles, hence it was refreshing to see her playing a part in an ensemble like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Seen as a possessive and jealous fiancé to Kabir (Abhay Deol), the actress pulled all the right strings to convince all that she can be a pain in the neck! Mission accomplished Ms Koechlin.
That Girl In The Yellow Boots- Ruth
I have always been a fan of Anurag Kashyap’s dark and twisted cinema. With a Girl In Yellow Boots, the director brought out his former wife Kalki’s wrathful side for her role as Ruth. What I like was how Kalki channeled all her anger into giving a memorable performance, as she set out on a quest to finf her father.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani- Aditi
Kalki played an out and out commercial role in film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Seen as a tomboy Aditi who is secretly in love with her bestie Avinash( Aditya Roy Kapur), Kalki was a vision with her tapori ways and raw attitude. I loved how she experimented with a different role and broke the monotony of her serious characters.
Which of Kalki’s roles do you like the best? Post your votes in the box below! BollywoodLife wishes Kalki a very happy birthday.
