Director Shankar's second film, Kadhalan, starring Prabhu Dheva and Nagma in lead roles, is not just any run of the mill love story. While the plot may not be novel, it is the treatment of the story from the auteur that makes Kadhalan stand out from rest of the films. With this film, Shankar showed his prowess as a filmmaker who has a knack for visual brilliance. This commercial film made big money not only at Kollywood box office but also in Bollywood as its Hindi dubbed version Hum Se Hai Muqabula raked moolah at the Bollywood box office.

Mudhalavan showcased Shankar's love for mega budget movies as the ace filmmaker never left any stone unturned to shoot his film in a grand level. The film was later remade in Hindi by Shankar titled as Nayak with Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji in lead.
Being one of the first films to put the spotlight on split personality disease, Shankar's Anniyan surprised everyone with its unique story line and the auteur's deft touch in handling a complex film with ease. The way the three personalities where handled in the film, without any confusion, creating right amount of excitement in what is to come, shows Shankar's growth as a filmmaker of high esteem.
The 2010 Rajinikanth-Aishwarya starrer paved way to various technological advancements in Indian cinema as director Shankar gave Hollywood films a run for their money with blockbuster Enthiran. The film was not only the biggest money grosser of the year, but was raved by fans and critics alike for the sheer grandness of it. With Enthiran 2 in the pipeline, we believe that Shankar will go all guns blazing to churn out yet another visual spectacle.
One of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Vikram-Amy Jackson starrer I again gave a proof of director Shankar's brilliance in delivering breath taking visuals.
