At the recent Disney D23 Expo, the first look of one of the highly anticipated Marvel movies, Black Widow was released. The super-spy who has been one of the core Avengers' members in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is finally getting a movie of her own. The standalone movie will star Scarlett Johansson who has been playing the character of Natasha Romanoff since 2010. The movie has a starry line up behind Scarlett featuring Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz. In the last Avengers movie, the Soviet spy turned S.H.I.E.L.D agent Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow ended up meeting a dark fate. The Cate Shortland directorial won't bring her back. Instead from what we know the story is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before Avengers: Infinity War.
The first poster also shows, a different look of Natasha with a new costume, something she has not donned in the previous Marvel movies. Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development & Concept Artist Andy Park posted the official Black Widow poster to Twitter. We see Black Widow (Johansson) in a brand new suit and hairstyle in the central. On either side of Natasha, we see Yelena Belova (Pugh), Red Guardian (Harbour), and Melina Vostokoff (Weisz).
Sadly, we won't get to see her coming back to life but we'll see her for the one last time. The movie is written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, and will open in theatres on May 1, 2020.
