In the last week, we saw maverick filmmaker Shankar announcing the remake of his Tamil blockbuster Anniyan with Ranveer Singh. Though later, we saw the film landing in controversy when producer of the film, Aascar Ravichandran sent a legal notice to S Shankar saying that the director doesn't have any right to remake the film. Later, we saw Shankar lashing out at the producer with an equally harsh notice and said that he has all the right to remake and he doesn't need his permission for that. While we hope this matter gets sort out soon, the latest reports suggest that the Kabir Singh actress Kiara Advani has come on board to play the female lead in the film. Besides Bollywood, Kiara has worked in south films Bharat Ane Nenu (2018) and Vinaya Vidheya Rama (2019).

Well, watching the fresh pair of Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani will definitely be a treat for all the fans. Sharing his excitement to come on board as the lead actor for Anniyan remake, Ranveer said in a statement, "To lead a film like 'Anniyan' is a dream come true for any artiste. Vikram sir, one of our country’s finest talents, an artiste who I hugely admire, gave a colossal performance in the original, one that can never be matched. "I can only hope that my interpretation and rendition of the part also connects with audiences in the same way. It’s undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime performance piece, and I am ready to give this role every single ounce of my being."
On the other hand, Shankar asserted, "I'm thrilled to make 'Anniyan' for the pan-Indian audience and I'm confident that this powerful story will strike a chord in the hearts of all. In Dr Gada, Ranveer and I have found an ideal producer who believes in the vision we have to change the nativity of content for audiences across the country."
