Tanishk Bagchi recently recreated the famous track Masakali from Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's Delhi 6. And he ruined it forever. Tanishk's version of Masakali, which is Masakali 2.0, is crooned by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar. Needless to say, all three of them have received the wrath of netizens for ruining a happy track and turning into a romantic number. Apart from social media users, A.R Rahman, the composer of Masakali, expressed his disappointment over the new version. Besides him, Delhi 6's director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and lyricist Prasoon Joshi were also unimpressed by Masakali 2.0 and shared their displeasure over the same.
After them, singer Mohit Chauhan, who crooned the original track, has come out in open to talk about Masakali 2.0. And let us tell you, even Mohit is unhappy with the new version. Although he hasn't heard the complete song, Mohit has seen the snippet of Masakali 2.0 and he knows that A.R Rahman is upset with it.
"I know Rahman sir has tweeted about it and even Prasoon sir showed his disapproval. I believe that music is something that connects with the soul. An artiste creates music out of thin air. Masakali didn't exist before Rahman sir composed it. Suddenly out of thin air, he composes the song and Prasoon sir writes it and then I sing it. And, suddenly it takes life and becomes what it is. So, if somebody wants to take that song and make something else out of it, then the original creator of that particular piece of music needs to be consulted or permission must be taken from that person," he told News 18.
The singer further added that the ownership of the song remains with the original creator as it is their baby before anyone else's. And we totally agree with Mohit. One cannot just tweak the original track and make it their own. It is unacceptable, that's what we feel.
