When the first lockdown had hit the country, leading to theatres all over being shut for an extensive period, Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India was one of the first movies to be announced for a direct OTT release, with Disney+ Hotstar being chosen as the preferred digital platform. And while other titles acquired by Hotstar before, after or along with Bhuj, such as Laxmii, Khuda Haafiz, Lootcase, The Big Bull, Dil Bechara have premiered on the digital streaming service, the historical war film is yet to see the light of day, with no official word yet on its release date.
So, in case y'all, too, have been wondering what's up with Bhuj: The Pride of India and when it'll finally release, then today's your lucky day as we got in touch with one of the most reliable industry insiders, film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi, who has exclusively revealed some exciting inside scoop on the movie.
“Tentatively, 15th August weekend (the release). It's not been officially announced yet, but probably hearing from people associated with the film or who've worked on the film that it's 15th August,” revealed Akshaye Rathi when asked about Bhuj's release date.
Speaking about a few portions that were left to shoot, he added, “They've all been completed. If you remember, in-between, Ajay Devgn had gone to Hyderabad to shoot at Ramoji (film studio). So he completed Bhuj and after that he shot Mayday. First Bhuj was shot there and the entire patchwork was completed. The entire movie is complete.”
Bhuj: The Pride of India also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Pranita Subhash, Ammy Virk and Sharad Kelkar. It's helmed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, who'll be making his feature-film directorial debut with the movie.
