Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won the 1994 Miss World pageant and shot to fame. However, it was three years later that the actress made her acting debut. Aishwarya ventured into films with Iruvar in Tamil film in 1997 and went on to do Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya in the same year, making a debut in the Hindi Film industry. Now, it happened to be Rani Mukerji's birthday yesterday. The actress had interacted with her fans with a live session on YRF's official media handle. Talking about the actress, Rani Mukerji had taken a bold risk when she accepted the role of Tina in Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. All the Bollywood fans out there would know that Rani Mukerji was not the first choice for the role. It was previously offered to Twinkle Khanna, Karisma Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai.
Back in 1998, when the Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol starrer had released, Aishwarya had opened up on refusing to do Tina's role in the film. In an interview, a year later the Raavan actress revealed she was constantly in competition with other senior actresses and the role would have garnered her unwanted response. "I’m in a catch-22 situation, really. Though I’m a newcomer, I’m compared with all the senior actresses," the Fanney Khan actress revealed. She went on to add, " If I’d done the film, it would have been tittered that, ‘Look, Aishwarya Rai is back to doing what she did in her modelling days—leaving her hair straight, wearing minis, and pouting glamorously into the camera.’ Ultimately, the hero goes back to the more real person. I know if I’d done Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I would have been lynched."
Back then, she had opened up on being typecast or on doing stereotypical roles. "Look, I can’t fight the looks I’ve been born with. If I’m blessed with good looks, so be it. But for Pete’s sake, don’t knock my hard work, my professionalism. I’m only three-films-old. I haven’t given any of my directors any reason to complain," the actress had brushed it down the carpet.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has Ponniyin Selvan alongside Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Jayaram, Trisha Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, and Aishwarya Lekshmi to name a few. Rani Mukerji, on the other hand, has Bunty Aur Babli 2, Mrs.Chatterjee v/s Norway to name a few. Talking about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's entire cast, Shah Rukh Khan is filming Pathan co-starring Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan in a cameo. He will reportedly also be seen in the latter's Tiger 3 in a cameo. On the other hand, Kajol was last seen in a web movie called Tribhanga.
Salman Khan had a cameo in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as Aman.
