Actress Mahira Sharma, who had made her Bollywood debut opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan in 2017's Raees, has tested positive for COVID-19. Breaking the news in an official statement posted on her Instagram handle, Mahira wrote: “I have tested positive for COVID-19. I’m isolating and have also informed all those who were in close contact with me over the last few days. It’s been rough but it will be ok soon, InshAllah. Please please wear a mask and follow all other SOPs - for your sake and others. Love, Mahira Khan.” In a postscript, she added, “Prayers and movie recommendations are more than welcome.”

No sooner than Mahira Khan had put out the statement than 'get well soon' messages and care from all quarters began pouring in on her Instagram account, including from several celebrities, among whom our Mouni Roy also sent her best wishes. Commenting on Mahira's Insta post, the Brahmastra actress wrote: “Sending you lots of love. Get well soonest xx.” Several Pakistani celebrities also commented on Mahira Khan's post, wishing her a speedy recovery. “Sending healing vibes,” and “Get well soon,” wrote fellow actors Adnan Malik and Minal Khan wrote respectively.
Earlier, when Mahira Khan was asked at an event about the ban on all Pakistani artistes, following the Uri attack (the real-life one), she had said, “It’s something that I have answered many times but I hear things are changing now with Bollywood. I don’t think that we will solve anything by retaliating, and I think things won’t work by doing tit for tat. You ban us, we ban you, you do this, we do that, no I don’t think so; I think they are an amazing industry and I have very close friends there still and I think we are an amazing industry too. World over there should be an exchange of art.”
