The handsome hunk of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in blockbuster Kabir Singh, is currently shooting for his digital debut, which is directed by duo Raj and DK in the coastal state of Goa. The web series also features Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna and Amol Palekar in lead roles. While his fans are waiting for the release of Jersey, the latest reports suggest that he is set to play the character of Mahabharat's Karna in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next. The actor will do a lot of prep for the mythological drama and the makers are planning to roll the film in early 2022. The film will be made on a large scale and will release in 2023.
The film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala, who is interestingly producing one more film on Mahabharat's character Ashwathama, that stars Vicky Kaushal in titular role. In February, Jackky Bhagnani too announced a film on Karna as he wrote on social media, “Growing up, I have always been intrigued by an unsung warrior from the Mahabharata - #Karna. His journey highlighted how one should continue to believe in spirituality, generosity, humility, dignity, self-respect, and being respectful towards his loved ones at any given situation in life. Extremely grateful, excited and proud to present to you, my dream project #SuryaputraMahavirKarna.”

Talking about Shahid Kapoor's, the actor earlier said, "It took me some time to decide what to do next after 'Kabir Singh'. But the minute I saw 'Jersey, I knew I wanted it to be my next. It's a wonderful, inspiring, and personal human journey that I connected with deeply.'' It is directed by Gowtham Tinnanauri and produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju. The film also features Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in key roles. The film originally starred Nani, Sathyaraj and Shradhha Srinath in the lead roles.
