Shravan Rathod, of Nadeem Shravan fame, succumbed to COVID-19 yesterday. He was 66. His on Sanjeev told Indian Express that his father and mother had returned from Kumbh Mela a few days before testing positive for Covid-19.
Sanjeev said, “We had never thought our family would have to go through such tough times, my father passed away, I am Covid positive and so is my mother.” He added that his brother is also positive and is in home isolation, but since their father had passed away, he is being allowed to do the final procedures to do last rites for our father.
Sanjeev added that his mother was right next to him in the hospital and was inconsolable.
He also clarified that about some rumours regarding hospital beds. He said, “There were some rumours that the hospital is not giving us our father’s body following an issue with billing, but it is untrue, the hospital has been very supportive and they did everything they could to help my father.”
He said special arrangements are being made for the last rites and the BMC was helping with an ambulance.
After the news of his demise, many musicians expressed their grief. “Saddened to know that Shravanji of Nadeem Shravan has passed away. Feeling numb. When will this nightmare get over. My deepest condolences to his family,” music composer Pritam tweeted.
Salim Merchant wrote, “Shravan bhai is no more. My respects and condolences to his family. Nadeem-Shravan have given us some of the biggest hits in the 90s. Covid has taken so many lives. Don’t know when will this end…Really saddened by this news.”
Actor Manoj Bajpayee tweeted, "Extremely sad news. May God give peace to his soul.” Adnan Sami said, "Extremely saddened by the tragic news of legendary Music Composer Shravan ji’s (of Nadeem/Shravan fame) demise… He was not just an incredible composer but also possessed an ever-loving soul and a beautiful heart. May he rest in peace.”
