Sushant Singh Rajput's friend Siddharth Pithani arrested by the NCB in drug case

The NCB had earlier arrested Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, some staff members of Sushant Singh Rajput and a few others under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This is a major development in the drug-related probe. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday said that it has arrested Sidharth Pitani, flatmate of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in a drug-related case. “Pithani’s alleged role in the drug case, that emerged post the actor’s death, came to light during the NCB’s investigation and hence he was arrested," an NCB official told PTI. The arrest comes almost two and half months after it filed a 12,000-page charge sheet against 33 people, including actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and others in the Bollywood-drugs mafia probe case linked to Sushant's death on June 14, 2020, when he was found hanging in his flat. On March 5, the NCB charge sheet was filed before a Mumbai Special NDPS Court, following two cases registered by the drug law enforcement agency after an intimation from the Enforcement Directorate which was probing the financial angles in Sushant's death. According to reports, Siddharth was among the four people present at Sushant Singh Rajput's home in Mumbai when he was found hanging in his room on June 14.

As you might be aware, the CBI team accompanied by Neeraj, Rajput’s another domestic help Deepesh Sawant and Pithani had also visited the late actor’s house in Bandra to reconstruct the sequence of events before he was found dead there on June 14.

The NCB had arrested Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, some staff members of Rajput and a few others under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Rhea, Showik and some other accused are currently out on bail.

In March, Ajaz Khan, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a separate case. The actor was picked up by the NCB from the Mumbai airport after he returned to the city from Rajasthan.

Last year, he was arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly uploading an objectionable post on Facebook. He was let out on bail and thanked his fans and lawyer Nazneen Khatri for helping him out.
