The winners of the 67th National Film Awards were out yesterday and the big news is that Kangana Ranaut has won her third National Award for Best Actress (after Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns), this time, jointly, for Panga and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, and her fourth overall, factoring in her Best Supporting Actress victory for Fashion. She's now only trails Shabana Azmi (5) among actors with the most National Awards, and is tied fourth with Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan (if you take into account the latter's one triumph as a producer). “The making of Manikarnika wasn't easy. Kangana had to undergo lot of physical challenges and at one point got badly injured and had stitches. I witnessed how passionately she handled everything and yet continued to give her all for the best interest of the film. I knew then that she deserves nothing but the best of appreciation for this movie. The National Award has proved that she is best at her craft. Team Manikarnika is really happy for her achievements and Kangana made this possible. She fully deserves all the adulation. The award is also a testimony that we are on the right track with the plans for Manikarnika 2. The team is are now supercharged to kickstart the film. It will be called Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda, based on Didda who was Kashmir's first woman ruler,” revealed Kamal Jain.
Wow...talk about good news coming in abundance, right?
