The film gets 50% occupancy at the box office!
After having two different superhero films this year with mixed reactions (Civil War, cool...BvS, not so cool!), it's time to relish another superhero flick in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Apocalypse is the third film of the X-Men prequel trilogy that began with First Class. The film opened this Friday with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda's Sarbjit. And going with the current trend, it is the Hollywood film that got a upper hand when it comes to box office occupancy on Day 1.
Popular trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, had earlier tweeted that "#XMenApocalypse opens to 50% occupancy across India... Hollywood takes on Bollywood yet again." This was also confirmed by Akshaye Rathi, another renowned trade expert, who said the occupancy was around 30 to 50% for all morning and afternoon shows. He also revealed that this was much more than Sarbjit's, which was just around 15-20%. This is a bit surprising, since the film stars an A-lister in the form of former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
X-Men Apocalypse stars Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Rose Byrne with Oscar Isaac playing the main antagonist, and Hugh Jackman in a cameo as fan-favourite Wolverine. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.
Meanwhile, Sarbjit also stars Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumar, and is directed by Omung Kumar.
