We just wonder why....
Shahid Kapoor may have given a performance of a lifetime as Tommy Singh in Udta Punjab. Wait a minute, he did that being in and as Haider, or was it in Kaminey? Anyways, Shahid Kapoor is one of the most exciting actors of his generation, someone who is comfortable with both commercial as well as offbeat films.
He is also at the cusp of entering paternity, as his wife Mira is expected to deliver any time soon. So all in all, Shahid Kapoor is going through a very great time in both life and career. But it was always not so, especially when he was trying to break into Bollywood, despite being a star-kid.
Years ago, he was in the popular Aryans' song Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra, and later was a part of Shiamak Davar's dance troupe. But before he got the break with Ishq Vishk, he had to, in the actor's own words, face 100 rejections at the auditions.
Speaking to HT about his early ordeal, Shahid Kapoor revealed, "Everyone thinks that he is Pankaj Kapur’s son, so he must have got a break. But I have been rejected from 100 auditions. Sometimes, I didn’t have money to eat food or to even go to the auditions. I have lived that life, and I don’t like talking about it. But that is my reality."
However, that experience was enough to get him committed to the art of acting. He said, "It is a learning and a part of my life. It is the result of a larger design, which one can’t understand, so I don’t want to analyse it too much. Sometimes, when we look back too often, You are unable to see what’s in front of you. So, I just like to focus and look forward."
