Coldplay stuns Twitterati after performing on Channa Mereya and Vande Mataram - read tweets

Coldplay surprised everyone at the Global Citizen India Festival 2016 when Chris Martin started singing Vande Mataram and Channa Mereya...

Coldplay won everyone's heart last night as they performed in India for the first time at the Global Citizen India Festival 2016. The British band is one of the most popular bands in the world currently. Many Indians have been hardcore followers of Coldplay. However, they could not witness their live performance till last night. Sixteen years of wait, but it was all worth it. But Chris Martin and his troop had a surprise up their sleeves. They wanted to surprise the crowd and they did! If I told you a week back that Coldplay would perform on Vande Mataram and Channa Mereya, would you believe me? I am sure you wouldn't, but they did! Yes, the British band band perform on these two Hindi tracks and gave us goosebumps. But not just the 80000 people at the stadium, but the millions of people seeing the event live on their TV screens. After singing Yellow, Paradise and a number of their hit tracks, Chris called on stage the music maestro - A R Rahman. Chris played the guitar while Rahman sang Vande Mataram. But during the performance, to everyone's surprise, Rahman positioned the mike in front of Chris and he started singing the patriotic song. Cool na? But that wasn't the end of things. After the song was completed, Chris and Coldplay started performing Channa Mereya. Everyone was stunned. The crowd screamed, people cried and everyone had goosebumps. He sang for a minute and we could just look at him in awe. Twitterati was shocked too!
