Kangana Ranaut has once again found herself in hot waters after she made controversial statements on Twitter and Instagram. She had shared a video, where she commented on the reported violence that took place in West Bengal after the assembly election results were declared. She also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter to tame West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee using his 'virat roop' from early 2000s. Her tweet sparked massive outrage among social media users. And now a complaint has been filed against Kangana for inciting communal violence in West Bengal preaching ‘hate propaganda.’
Riju Dutta, TMC spokesperson and a resident of Raja Mahindra road in Kolkata, in his complaint, said that Kangana should be charged against hate propaganda to incite violence in the state. The complaint has now been turned into an FIR and an investigation might start soon.
"Ms Ranaut has posted several posts from her verified official Instagram handle bearing @kanganaranaut in the 'Stories' sections. She has also distorted and maligned the image of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal - Smt. Mamata Banerjee. Hence she is to be charged against hate propaganda to incite violence in West Bengal," read the complaint accessed by ABP news.
Kangana's handle @KanganaTeam has been suspended on Twitter, after the actress posted a series of tweets perceived to be controversial. The social media giant issued a statement on Kangana's account suspension stating that her account repeatedly violated Twitter's Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy.
“We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behaviour that has the potential to lead to offline harm. The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules specifically our Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy. We enforce the Twitter Rules judiciously and impartially for everyone on our service,” read the statement.
Speaking about her Twitter account suspension, Kangana had said, "Twitter has only proved my point they are Americans and by birth a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do."
"Fortunately, I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice including my own art in the form of cinema but my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved and censored for thousands of years and still there is no end to the suffering," she added.
