It is official! As Labour Day drew to an end, Varun Dhawan put up a post on Instagram confirming that the modern version of Coolie No.1 will come on May 1, 2020. The film has Sara Ali Khan opposite Varun Dhawan. Both the actors took to social media to make the announcement. In fact, Varun left a comment on Sara's Insta saying Malti tere pyaar main itne lafde...Varun put up a pic of a railway porter's badge with western railway, No.1 Licensed Porter written on it. Sara and Varun are collaborating for the first time and fans are damn excited about the same. In the original film, people adored Kader Khan and Sadashiv Amrapurkar's performances. We wonder who will reprise their roles in the remake.
Varun Dhawan's dad David Dhawan was famous for the No.1 series of the mid-90's. We have seen classics like Hero No.1, Coolie No.1, Jodi No.1 from him. The crackling chemistry between Govinda and Karisma Kapoor and their comic quotient made the films huge blockbusters.
The film was announced recently on Varun's 32nd birthday. It marks the reunion of David Dhawan and Vashu Bhagnani after 25 years. Sara Ali Khan was being speculated as the leading lady since a while but the official statement confirmed the news. A statement from the makers read, "It’s official... After 25 years David Dhawan and Vashu Bhagnani come back together to adapt their timeless comedy, Coolie No 1. The film starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan begins shoot this August." Varun's next big film is Street Dancer that releases in November. He is also doing a cameo in Bharat. Stay tuned to BL for more updates!
