Salman took on the cop avatar of Chulbul Pandey with "Dabangg" in 2010. It has became very popular among his fans and followers. Now, he will be back as the fun police officer with the upcoming Dabangg 3. "Since the last 9 years, I feel a strong parallel existence of Chulbul Pandey. I am overwhelmed with the love and support that the fans gave the character," Salman said.
The actor opened up about how Chulbul Pandey is not just a character for him but is an entirely different persona that he likes to embrace. "Once I wear my police vardi and moustache, I am no more Salman Khan, I am Chulbul Pandey," he added.
Directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Salma Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Nikhil Dwivedi under the banner of Salman Khan Films, the film also features Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz, Amole Gupte, Mahie Gill and Tinnu Anand.
Preity Zinta makes a special appearance, and the film marks the debut of actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar's daughter Saiee Manjrekar.
Salman Khan is soon returning with his Chulbul Pandey act as Dabangg 3 opens in theatres this December. Interestingly this time, Salman has also been credited for the screenplay, story and dialogues. Recently, in an interview with Mirror, the actor opened up how he has changed the character, Chulbul Pandey, from what it was conceived as. Interestingly, Chulbul Pandey wasn't the righteous guy that he is shown.
Talking about the character, Salman revealed, "When I heard the story of the first Dabangg, which Dilip Shukla had written, I liked the plot but thought the character wasn’t noble. There were no songs, he was grey, corrupt and ruthless. I changed him into the Chulbul Pandey you see, and it worked. There was a lot of angst. The mother passes away, after which he accepts his father and brother as family. That script was not mine; we retained the mota mota plot and made the scenes more massy and today, with a different kind of swagger. If you were to meet Chulbul on the road, toh aap usey maroge because he’ll appear arrogant and badtameez. But on screen, you like him. He does tedha things but for the right reasons. Like the zehreela sharab scene in Dabangg was negative but uska fayda was positive."
The actor also revealed that the planning for the next installment is also ready. He said, "We have Dabangg 4 written too."
