Let the drum rolls begin....the film has officially begun its awards tally!
Deepika Padukone's Piku, which had made fans of the public as well as the critics, with its simple sweet-n-bitter tale about motions and emotions, is not yet done with impressing more. The films has now won top honours at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, fending off tough competition!
The film won the Best Film as well as the Best Director for Shoojit Sircar. Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor award for his role as the affable cab company owner who has the 'courage' to take Piku and her crabby father to Kolkata, and strike a warm friendship with both of them.
Piku is about a single girl who has to take care of her grouchy father, played with gusto by Amitabh Bachchan, with stomach troubles. In taking care of his needs, her life goes for a toss. However, a road trip to Kolkata to settle a land dispute, along with a reluctant cab driver, changes the way all the three characters perceive life.
So is this the start for many more honours the film will receive in the days to come? We certainly hope so...
