All eyes are on Deepika Padukone ever since we got to see the first look of Chhapaak. The actress plays acid attack survivor in the Meghna Gulzar film that will bring on screen the real story of Laxmi Agarwal. Deepika's transformation through prosthetic make-up bowled us over and we are not the only ones. Every one from B-Town to audience lauded the actress and expressed their confidence in the actress to excel at her craft. The film went on floors on March 25 and today Deepika has given a sneak peek into her homework. "the only kinda homework I’ve ever enjoyed!?✏️ #chhapaak," she wrote. The post has a picture of the draft of the film, but what also catches out attention is the cute little stationery! Pencil, eraser, marker and ruler - DP has successfully evoked the nostalgia in us as she sets to do her homework. Check out the picture and you'll agree...
Recently in a conversation with Mid-Day, Deepika revealed more about her character Malti. "Not every acid attack survivor is like Laxmi, who, despite physical pain, social shaming and ostracism, came out of the experience, stronger, even victorious. There are many who are yet to overcome the trauma. I will be meeting some of these girls in the coming weeks and be working closely with them. I believe everyone needs to take mental health seriously and I'll have a dialogue with them and their families on this," she said.
Kangana Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel, who has been a victim of acid attack, is the biggest cheerleader for Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar. "No matter how unfair and unjust the world is we musn’t reflect what we hate, this is commendable on @deepikapadukone and @meghnagulzar part, being an acid attack survivor I pledge to be their biggest cheerleader #Chhapaak ????????," she tweeted in their support.
In case you missed it, Deepika is also making her debut as a producer with Chhapaak. She wants to bring to light a brave and independent female character as she believes that her story needs to be told. It's a story of undying human spirit, courage and self love. Chhapaak also stars Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role and it will lock horns with Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the box office on January 10, 2020.
