Deepika Singh approaches CINTAA over non-payment of dues by Diya Aur Baati Hum producers

Deepika Singh has approached CINTAA complaining against Shashi and Sumeet Mittal

The beautiful Deepika Singh who rose to fame playing Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum is embroiled in a payment dispute with the show's producers, Shashi and Sumeet Mittal. It seems the actress has approached CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes' Association) complaining that the producers have fined her Rs 16 lakhs. The talented actress has also stated that the producers have refused to clear her outstanding dues that come upto Rs 1.14 crore. On the other hand, Shashi and Sumeet Mittal feel that Deepika has caused them financial losses by reporting late on the sets. A source told The Times of India that the actress was sent a debit note of Rs 16 lakhs.

A source told the publication, "It's a standard procedure many TV show producers are adopting these days. When the show is about to end, instead of paying full dues, they issue a debit note and deduct money for coming late, and various expenses incurred because of the delay. It's surprising that reputed producers like Shashi-Sumeet and a hard-working actress like Deepika are at loggerhead. In such situations, even the broadcaster does not want to intervene."

It should be noted that the producers have not lodged a complaint with CINTAA about Deepika's reported unprofessionalism. In most cases, the producers approach the body and voice out their grievances. It seems Shashi and Sumeet Mittal straightaway deducted the amount they incurred as losses and sent her a debit note. Deepika played the role of Sandhya Rathi on the show that spoke about women's empowerment. Her pairing with Anas Rashid was also much appreciated. Nowadays, the actress is busy with her Odissi dance recitals in the country and abroad.

The publication also got in touch with Amit Behl, joint secretary of CINTAA and chairperson of Dispute Settlement Committee. He told the paper, "We have received a complaint from Deepika and have forwarded it to IFTPC (Indian Film and TV Producers Council). We are awaiting a date from the Joint Dispute Settlement Committee for a meeting between CINTAA, IFTPC, Deepika and Shashi-Sumeet."

However, Deepika refused to divulge much details to the paper. The lady gave a rather solemn reply saying that the media was not a platform to debate such matters. The producers who are holidaying abroad refused to comment.
